Related: About this forumI'm going to be 70 this week
My older daughter is on her way to spend the week with me. I made a loaf of bread, and as I was kneading it, realized it was the last loaf of bread I'll make in my 60s. I'll keep baking as long as I'm able, just a random thought as I was getting it ready.
I actually feel like I am starting fresh, new years, new experiences. I've gotten through many decades and I'm looking forward to getting through this one

I have one, but I still like kneading the bread. Such a good time to think and get in touch with myself

(4,074 posts)... you are actually the timeless witness of the calendar, clock and changes; the changeless awareness that is at the center, the true nature of "Self".
BTW, when I was your age, I was seventy-too.*

(11,813 posts)I got there 8 days ago. Although it wasn't the central reason we made a big change, the progression through life certainly was, so...kind of a nod towards being 70, I guess. So far, living in a townhouse (5 weeks) has been great, and we are looking at it as an adventure.
I hope your life is also a grand adventure!

(3,557 posts)When I was a kid I thought that my parents were old when they were in their 40s. Now that Im 42, I dont feel at all that Im old.
I feel that Im starting to be more adventurous and crazier the older I get. Im sure Im going to slow down and want to get settled down again at some point, but Ive been settled down since my youngest daughter was born and I have a lot more life to experience.
I've had the weight of the world on my shoulders many times over the years, and felt done. Right now, feel like the world is my oyster, if I'm in the mood
The kids will keep you young. I'm lucky to live near my grand kids and have been with them daily or weekly since they were babies. Now my teen grand is taller than I am, and my tween grand is looking me in the eye.
It is funny you should about how I feel. I remembered when I was in grade school, I calculated how old I'd be in 2022. So my younger self is right there with me, amazed

(19,360 posts)Although the great leveler is kind of a game changer I was taking a exercise course on zoom, but they ended that. I don't want to go into the class-all r's and I'd do better exercising on my own. Thanks for reminding me to keep it up!

(3,335 posts)I just adjust the timing and sometimes get out all my ingredients and premeasure the day before and then mix, knead etc. bake the next day. Sometimes an overnite rise in the fridge breaks it up also. I also do that with a lot of my more complicated cooking recipes. Home made bread rocks all the senses and keeps you young.
Not sure about the young part but that's my hope.
Marthe48
(19,360 posts)I sometimes get things ready before I start. I'm glad to hear you are still baking. There is a lot of satisfaction in turning out a tasty delight. My daughters bake, and they make everything delicious and pretty.

I cant believe everyone showed. Including the fruit guy from the corner, the guy who fixed my cell phone ( he brought me flowers ) and the guy who took us on our Visa runs to Nicaragua.
All the other expats.
It was so much fun.

(7,080 posts)I cook and bake a lot and hope I can keep doing it. Will be 75 next month. Read once about a poll of 90-yr-olds being asked how 90 felt. They all agreed it felt no different than 70. So, there is that.
