Related: About this forumDid they cut SS in 2014?
My husband and I went to our local office last November when he applied for Medicare at 65. I was told that I could start collecting 100% SS the year, not the month, I turned 66 and it would be $1,100 a month. I went online December 31 and January 1 and was told that I would have to wait until my birthday in November to collect 100%. It was also $200 less a month at "full retirement age", than what the clerk at the office told me it would be.
What gives with this?

(136,880 posts)1. No, 'they' did not cut SS in 2014.
Individual might have provided incorrect information. Should be 100% available on birthday.
I don't know amount, obviously, but calling SS by phone often provides very good info, as well as very competent and kind SS employees.
