Related: About this forumProof my bones are still pretty strong.
I headed out to feed the kittens and for the FIRST time they were all sitting right in front of the door. I could open the door barely wide enough to squeeze through and lost my balance avoiding stepping on one of them. DOWN I went on the concrete steps, slamming my arm on the deck and my hip on the step. AND I dropped the food. 😫
After a few seconds of self assessment, I was back on my feet and scooping up the food. Well, briefly. The kittens headed in to eat the spilled kibble.
I've already got a nasty, vivid bruise forming on my arm and have yet to check my hip. I'll probably be pretty sore for a couple of days but at least nothing broke. Surprising, since according to my NP I am at that age where I am fragile and could crumble in to dust at any second.

(18,213 posts)Once a year for 3 years. Bone density showed my bones stronger than before and when my Neurologist found out I do pool exercises 3 times a week said, best thing I could do. His Mother did the same.

(152,479 posts)You might consider getting a bone density test. They're easy and painless and take only a few minutes. I've had a couple of them.
That test will tell you how dense your bones are!
Remember, we're not 20 years old any more!

(27,354 posts)And I've always seemed to lean to my left, which is the way I fell.
How I've gotten through life without breaking anything other than several toes is amazing. Yes, I also tend to walk in to heavy objects that happen to be on the floor and to the left of my path.

(27,354 posts)I don't see a bruise on my hip. Yet. It's not even sore. The one on my arm will be impressive. It might make it IMPOSSIBLE for me to mow the lawn, this week, so someone might have to do that chore for me. Yes, that's my story and (of course) I'm sticking to it.

(93,562 posts)SO two things, natural, that might help. Both herbs are somewhat caustic with over use but are just the thing when used properly. For the soreness of certain parts, I would use some kind of topical salve made with comfrey, it deadens pain while promoting healing. The other is a salve made with arnica for the bruising, helps the blood reabsorb, heals bruises much faster.
Keep both out of eyes and away from glands in neck and face... it tingles intensely when the effect wears off.
