An estimated 4 million people marched nationwide, far exceeding expectations. Although the march was prompted by Hillary Clinton losing the election to US President Donald Trump (and held the day after his inauguration) it came to be about all the systems that threaten women’s equality, health, and human rights.
Importantly, it was also framed as a debut of a reinvigorated movement, not the culmination of one.
