(52,358 posts)until we were about 10 and we were allowed to decide if we wanted to keep making up sins to have something to confess (we were very good and didn't sin but the church wasn't satisfied with that) and getting up early for CCD on weekends. The decision was easy...sleep late! The whole family is a bunch of atheists and we aren't afraid of burning in Hell. During my entire life I have met a lot of atheists and most of them had the same life I did...they WERE Catholics and it turned them off of all religion permanently. I grew up with very little religious instruction. We were ostensibly Russian orthodox. That meant going to church once a year to get the holy ham and bread blessed. It just wasnt that important.
In my teens years I looked around and went through several philosophies before making the decision that it was all crap.

I bought Communion wafers to serve with lox and cream cheese dip for a snack at my sister's non-Easter family dinner. They loved it! We have an odd sense of humor.

(52,358 posts)I bought them before. It is the only thing I missed about leaving the Catholic church. I used to try to keep the wafer as long as I could but it would dissolve too quickly. They still taste the same as I remember and are low in calories too! Just Google "communion wafers to purchase".

(9,458 posts)Are they crispy?
What is the attraction?
Do they go well with cheese?

(52,358 posts)They are thin and about 1" and are the exact same thing they use in church. I got 250 and they last and last. They are made of flour and water and go well with anything (salsa and guac., etc.). I am eating some now. It is a fun "novelty" treat. It is sort of like my personal message to religion in general.
