Lord

I reign supreme
Over my workers
They rely on me
And I provide
I keep them employed and fed
With just enough
To keep them going
To keep them alive

From my corner office
I have oversight of all
Every employee’s actions
Every keyboard press
I have the power over every life
Within my kingdom
I am Lord of all
Not quite a God

But almost…

I can make them work
Every single day
With the turn of rough command
Forceful determination
They will give their lives to me
They know what happens if they don’t
They will lose it all
By my iron will

--

In the evening, I read online
The hatred in their hearts
For Lords in earned command
Just like me
Do I feel pain or suffer?
Do I care just what they think?
No!
I will use their very words
As a cause for my commands
Returning the hatred on their very heads
They must remember and believe
I am their Lord.
