Related: About this forumWell, Da Bears are looking more and more like they're moving to Indiana!!!!!
Just on faux noise, the Governor of Indiana was on blabbing about what Governor Pritzker of Illinois said, (sorry didnt see him), but the previous felon Governor of Illinois, Blagojevich was yapping too.

(7,573 posts)Personally, I would lure another NFL team to Chicago to play in Solider Field:
The Chicago Beef
The Chicago Lakers
The Chicago Cheetahs
It was be the greatest Fuck You to the greedy, arrogant McCaskey Family.
The state already gave them millions in tax payer funds to redo Solider Field in the 2000's and they went cheap and did a bad job. Now they want a do-over for more taxpayer money? They still owe the state millions on the horrible make over.
HELL NO: Go and be the Indiana Bears.
PS: Have you seen the proposed Hammond, IN site?
It's in the middle of a foul smelling, industrial shithole! Good luck with that!

(628 posts)major league baseball having moments of silence for Charlie Kirk, and an Olympic hockey team full of Chump supporters. Sports is getting harder and harder to give a shit about.

(76,461 posts)...they weren't asking for any public money.
They were looking for tax certainty, which could, if taken too far, freeze assessments at an unrealistically low number.
Then, it's indirectly taking public money.
But from what I've read, the Bears weren't asking for that. Just assurances that their very presence in Arlington Heights (and subsequent infrastructure upgrades) wouldn't trigger sudden & sustained assessment increases.
Like you, I oppose public money for stadiums. But, that isn't the issue in Illinois.
