Now Pete Rose can go into the Hall of Fame

Great baseball player but not so much as
a person. His attacks on Bart Giamatti* were classless. He absolutely deserves to be in the Hall of Fame but not when he was living.

* no idea on how to spell that nsme.

No question Rose is deserving, but there’s no need to rush it. Let the Veterans Committee take it up after they’ve reviewed ALL the other candidates.
(You spelled Mr Giamatti’s name correctly.)

And he was a real ahole. I never met or heard of even one person who said otherwise. I think it was his divorce that was all over the news for a couple of years.

That he was a jerk and probably a misogynist. No wonder his wife divorced him. But I’m not sure if good character traits are a requirement for Hall of Fame. There seems to be consensus that he was a good ball player. If that’s all you need to get in, maybe he still has a chance.

GAMBLING.

(2) Any player, umpire, or Club or League official or employee, who shall bet any sum whatsoever upon any baseball game in connection with which the bettor has a duty to perform, shall be declared permanently ineligible. . . .

Rule 21

He bet on Reds games as manager. He knew it was a bannable offense, and he did it anyway.

fractured and separated Ray Fosse's shoulder. Fosse was never the same after that and the effects of the collision with Rose shortened his career.
