Today, July13, in 1934 Babe Ruth became the first player to hit 700 home runs.

He was also the first to hit 500 on August 11, 1929, and 600 on August 21, 1931.

He was the original Wins Above Replacement player.

he hit 22 homers that year and batted .288. Yanks dumped him at the end of the year.
His career ended the next year with the Boston Braves at age 40, where he hit his final 6 HRs.

There will always be only one Babe, but as always eventually time beats us all.
