S.F. Giants' Donovan Solano pinch-hit homerun in the eighth inning lifted the Giants to a 2-1 victory over the Atheltics, just one day after LaMonte Wade Jr.'s pinch-hit homer in the ninth gave the Giants the lead and a 6-5 victory as well.
It was the first time in major-league history that a team has hit pinch-hit homers in the eighth inning or later to erase a deficit and take a lead in back-to-back games.

(31,974 posts)Sixteen game stretch with two starters on the I.L., nearly all against playoff or near-playoff bound teams, nine road games, two vs Los Angeles.
If they can get through this at least playing .500 it'll be a success IMO.
