It is so heartwarming to see the eagle helping the rabbit climb the fence. Why can't humans be as kind to each other. 😢

(15,061 posts)I have hawks that hang out occasionally in my yard and years ago one got hold of full grown rabbit. I was quite surprised. They talk about cats killing birds and how we have fewer birds because of them. I am here to tell you, I have lost track of how many birds have been taken from my yard by hawks and not cats.

3401 Columbia Pike is the address of the Bank of America at the intersection of Columbia Pike and South Glebe Road. Ive changed buses at the stop near that wall.

(26,897 posts)I was thinking there were four, but then didn't really believe my memory.
Once, in an English lit class at NOVA, we read some poem which contained the line: The glebe cow mooed. It got me to look up the word glebe. A piece of land serving as part of a clergyman's benefice and providing income.
And now everyone, or almost everyone who reads this post will have learned something new.

(61,875 posts)is only a few blocks long, in far north Arlington, just before Glebe Road drops off to cross the Potomac River. Its the old alignment of North Glebe Road.
And then theres the Glebe House

(24,145 posts)When I lived in rural Calif, I saw a hawk swoop down on my driveway, and fly off with a good-sized snake hanging from its talons. We've had several chickens taken by them here.

(19,013 posts)I love hawks and eagles (especially bald eagles), but I know they and other carnivores have to eat. I don't particularly care to watch, but I know it's part of life, and I respect the skill required to be a successful predator.
Nature is beautiful in many ways, but it's also "red in tooth and claw," to quote Tennyson.
