Related: About this forumDa Bears - whoops, make that DUH Bears.
A couple weeks ago the Bears were 4-2 and I thought they were on the ascendant. What a difference a couple games can make. Last week's Hail Mary loss to the Commanders was bad enough, but the Bears went to Arizona today and got soundly beaten in every aspect of the game. Both starting offensive tackles are out. The center they intended to play from the beginning hasn't played at all yet. What is worse, I see them committing foolish penalties, such as the leverage penalty allowing the Cardinals a second chance at their second touchdown. They haven't won a road game on a Sunday since December of 2021.
They're 4-4 now, and assuming they can defeat the lowly Patriots next week at home (they should, but it's hard to feel any confidence), they'll be 5-4 with eight games to go: two each against the Packers, the Vikings and the Lions, the Seahawks and the Niners. Unless they start playing MUCH better football, they'll lose every one of them. That's 5-12 and almost surely another top ten pick in the draft, definitely a new coaching staff, and here we go again Bears fans.

(1,229 posts)Number one, I only expected 6 or 7 wins this season from them. Offense is led by a rookie QB which is rarely good in that league. Eberflus' seat is now hot thanks to the crazy hail mary last week. That should never happen in the NFL but as we know it does every few years.
I'm a lifelong and mostly long suffering Lions fan. Not gonna get too high on my own supply right now. Things are going great but as we saw with Hutchinson's broke leg a few weeks ago, that can turn in a heart beat. So hang in there and I think they'll have to determine at the end of the year if Eberflus is the right guy. I suspect he isn't.

I was just pissed after that game. Just done.

(29,359 posts)It wasn't as simple as sending 3 or 4 rushers doing their own thing. They coordinated their rushes together to give the QB no room to run. It was impressive considering local 12 Sports Locker room were ripping the Dline the week before.

(70,636 posts)And it was a putrid performance, at home, against a weak opponent.
They were awful today. Williams got killed out there. Nine sacks, 12 other hits. The QB got hit 21 times!!!

(109 posts)The Bears are one of the worst teams in the NFL. The main reason, of course, is injuries: four out of five of the offensive linemen who started the season for the Bears are hurt, and the one remaining - center Coleman Shelton - was acquired to be a backup. Still, it's pretty clear the offensive philosophy, which has rookie QB Caleb Williams loaded with pre-snap responsibilities, as though he were a five year veteran, isn't helping any. It's a pretty good if thin defense, but if all you can manage is one field goal against the team currently in position for the number one pick in the upcoming draft, your offense can't be called anything but just plain bad.
The record is 4-5, but all eight remaining games on the schedule are against tough opponents. It would be an almost miraculous feat if the Bears equal their disappointing finish of 7-10 from last year.
My country is going to hell in a handbasket. It would be nice if my football team were at the least watchable.
