(23,194 posts)I think it was Jeff Tiedrich but if I'm wrong, accept my apologies.
To paraphrase, "Today is the Super Bowl and I don't know who to root for: The team with a racist name or the team with a racist quarterback." It was accompanied by a photograph of Trump and Tom Brady.
We'll watch it just for fun since we don't have a dog in this hunt.

(61,000 posts)Saw this story this week.
A 1955 profile in Time Magazine described 300-pound mayor and Boy Scout leader H. Roe Bartle as the most imposing feature on the Kansas City landscape
.outsized only by his own voice.
That voice boomed, promoted and amused, earning Bartle hefty fees as a public speaker. But never did he use it more effectively than when pitching his city to a visiting football executive named Lamar Hunt.
Bartle acquired his nickname the Chief through his many years as a Boy Scout executive. When Hunt moved his Dallas Texans team to Kansas City in 1963, Chiefs popped up time and again in a name-the-team contest.

(1,577 posts)... I talked to a Native friend about this last year. Hes an artist and does Native American art and music. He loves the Chiefs. I asked if it was offensive- should we go the route of the Redskins?
He (one dudes opinion here) said no. He always felt the team took care to honor the history of the area and the tribes. Only thing he didnt like was the tomahawk chop. Thought it was a step too far.

(1,577 posts)My boss (Herky Jerky owner) is rooting for the Bucs. I think when we win I should make him send me extra jerky! Lol
I guess Ill ship him some Kansas grown popcorn (in Chiefs colors, of course) if the Chiefs dont pull it off.

(10,017 posts)I have my reasons for hoping the Chiefs win, while thinking most folks are wanting to see a moving on from someone who is arguably the best pro quarterback to have ever played the game. Each team is blessed by excellent quarterbacks and though a team is more than just one player, the veteran has had his time in the spotlight.
After Brady throws two picks, the Chiefs win by 10.
Time for a new era - in DC and the NFL.

(16,953 posts)so I'll defer to my default position of rooting against Brady. The earth will cease to exist by the time my team makes the SB again...
