I'm tired of WoW. Would I like Skyrim?

It's not a MMORPG, but it's fucking addicting anyways. You might miss out on some of the overall plot line, but it's not horrifically important. Just know that Talos and Tiber Septim is the same dude and I think you'll be okay.

3. I actually like WOW now that I run my own server

Can do anything I want on it, level up with a command, seek out new areas without worry, etc

4. Well I bought Skyrim from Steam tonite.

I won't try it out until tomorrow, though. I've played WoW since it came out, have several different chars but I'm just kind of bored. I usually solo anyway and rarely do dungeons, but that's cool you run your own server. I hope I like Skyrim; it cost 60 bucks. My friend really likes it and I always tried to get her to play WoW but she never did.

5. If your PC has the chops (GOOD ON YOU for getting the PC version!!!), **get the texture mods**

at the very least.

You'll want the Full HD texture mod. You might also like the immersion mod (removes the HUD; you can bring it back at will), any mod that adds ambient occlusion, and a realistic water mod (there are several).

Trust me, you'll want to mod the living hell out of this game, but you'll end up with a truly stunning visual experience.

My PC has the chops; we wouldn't have it any other way! I can't wait to play--I have 2 appointments today and have to run some errands---arrgh! Should I invest in the strategy guide? I just looked it up on Amazon and it's only 16 bucks--I bought all the Wow ones and they did help me out.

7. Strat Guide is a beautiful tome.

nice paper, nicely organized and thick as a bible. I think it's around $30 new so thats quite a deal if you can get it for near half price. Jam packed with info - I use it mostly for the alchemy lists and just fondle it once in a while.

9. it's a 455 page reference manual, not a strategy guide

Be sure to familiarize yourself with the labeling system used in the guide before you try to use it. Doing so will save you many woes. That said, the guide has everything and is a must for everyone who has the game, even if they don't want spoilers.

12. Yes, Atree Dawn of light, run it on XP

Easy to install (well, no real install, you just have to copy the folder to desktop, change a config file in WOW, put a short cut into wow folder, and start three processes).

I didn't have any issues running it and also run it on my daughters' computer.

13. I love the game but ...

I get serious slowdown after uncovering a lot of the locations. It's my aging PC I think. It is a real shame because I can only complete about 2/3rds of the storyline.

I hope your PC can throw it around.

Originally I played it on a friends PS3 and it seemed to have the same problem but after the first couple of online patches it went like a rocket.


The only thing that would improve it is mounted combat ( there is a mod that does that but I haven't used it myself )
