Oklahoma State Sen. Shane Jett, a Republican, argued this week that it should be okay for teachers to beat students with disabilities because not doing so would be unbiblical.

Jett's defense of corporal punishment is trouble for all kinds of reasons.

c'mon over here and let me explain the facts of life to you. As an adult with disabilities I have a perspective you may find enlightening. Jesus would never do this, so why do you feel the need to do so?

There is no biblical reference I am aware of which speaks of punishing those in need of Christian love and acceptance. I grew up as the son of a Presbyterian minister and have more than enough bible in me to speak to this.

I find it amusing that the bible actually attributes Jesus to reminding people that they should pray in private anyway...be not like the Pharisees?

This world would be best served by the loss of ALL organized religion, but 90% of the benefit would come from ditching the Abrahamic faiths in toto right now.

its worst who exist "in name only," any more than you can ditch groups of a race or sex because of the worst examples of their groups.

Yes, Jesus said prayer and good works should be done without public validation; and that goodness is what God sees, not what the public notices.
Jesus didn't come into the world for the healthy/happy humans; he came for the broken/suffering humans.

Read John, the entire chapters 14-17 to get at the heart of what Jesus told his followers about "you shall know them by their fruits..."

11. Let there be no mistake: THIS man himself doesn't know the Bible one f'n bit. He speaks lies from an elected

position which he thinks confers power and authority on him. It does not. Not a single thing he says is biblical. Any verse or two he might refer to does not constitute biblical law. What he says was never Hebrew Law, therefore not Jewish law, therefore not Christian doctrine.

You can spot a barbarian by their propensity to be punitive toward children. No one with opinions like his should be in public office.
