This new pope is making it possible to consider maybe going back to the
Catholic Church...
Years ago, I was put off by what happened to my mother when she divorced my brutish and violent father.

(5,756 posts)Too bad the RCC is still governed by an ensconced set of Bishops and Cardinals that can do everything in their power to controvert the reasonableness this Pope is espousing. And they will do that. Change will not be forthcoming just based on proclamations by the Pope.

(45,558 posts)What I do know is that the trappings of the Church gave me great comfort when I was young.
I still enjoy the rituals for what they are, rituals.
What I do find comforting is having a place to go when I start questioning my own mortality.
It's nice to be part of something that traces it's start more than 2,000 years ago.
And since this Pope seems to be a part of the continuum while looking as if he is going to do something to inch the Church into the 21st century.
