Chiba Prefecture is between Tokyo and the earthquake center.

(123,738 posts)3. When the big Kobe earthquake happened I called my brother in Kyoto and woke him up. He had no idea
an earthquake had happened though he had been woken up in the middle of the night by his alarm clock falling on him. He passed away two years ago and I always want to reach out to his partner when I hear news of Japan. Fortunately she lives nowhere near today's earthquake.

had bought a new car. She was fine, her car was fine but the bridge between her car and the mainland went kaput. Bad times.
