Related: About this forumGrief grabbed me today. I found an old notebook from my years old class in "writing the self."
I wrote of the death of a beloved sister in law in that class. I was just putting the finishing touches on a new book I am writing and dedicated it to her. I emailed my niece to tell her that she'd be getting it soon.
I was plunged back into the grief I felt in that writing course. I emailed the professor to let her know.
Also, was reminded of Stanley Kunitz's poem "The heart breaks and breaks and lives by breaking." He tells us "not to turn."

And your writing must have captured its essence. Wishing you soothing, loving memories to hold you through this.

and we discussed her mother's life and how she meant so much to so many people.
