This is a really cruddy life experience for me. It's been 5 years. Gotten worse, more difficult. Physically something's off which exacerbates my psyche and spirit. I can't continue in this status quo. I'm not going to 'do anything'. I just expected some sort of minimal relief. It's said losing a spouse is one of the most difficult losses one can experience and manage to endure.
Thanks for listening and being gracious.🕯

(25,691 posts)...died when he was 23 and I was 26. Scuba diving adventure that ended badly.
I know I have have said, here and elsewhere, that he has been gone so long that I often feel as if I imagined him because the memories get more and more remote, and there is no one left with whom to verify what you think you remember.
Wishing you strength and serenity.

Traumatic if it's sudden and unexpected.Someone did say that year: what if he survived but in a vegetative state? I shuddered.
We are all here for an appointed number of days. Why those who selfishly consider their own lives over regard of others is profoundly heart-wrenching. They haven't a clue.

What happened to me personally was shattering, but this current state, mostly political, that the US is in and also the destruction in people's lives around the globe doesn't help healing. The soul is affected. Sickened.
I appreciate you asking to share some about him. This and all lovingkindness shown me on DU is balm for my soul.🫶

"I promise you, the time will come that what's going to happen is six months will go by and everybody is going to think, well, it's passed. But you are going to ride by that field or smell that fragrance or see that flashing image. You are going to feel like you did the day you got the news. But you know you are going to make it. The image of your dad, your husband, your friend. It crosses your mind and a smile comes to your lips before a tear to your eye. That's hwo you know. I promise you, I give you my word, I promise you, this I know. The day will come. That day will come." - Joe Biden

(19,350 posts)Last year was easier than the first 5. I don't stop missing him. I have pictures in view all around the house. I will mention him if I'm talking to someone who knew him. I try to remember that other people loved him too. It helps me to boost them, especially our kids.
Sending you energy to ease your pain and lift your heart
