Love Letters/Wedding Pictures

What are others doing with those memories? I flop back and forth...burn them...put them away for a long time? and my wedding bouquet?

Not all in the same box, mind you, I don't want to be looking at the box and being reminded every time I see it. So the stuff is scattered around in boxes that I have stored away.

I would've like to have burned everything, but I have kids. In my divorce support group, I was told it probably wasn't a good idea to burn those items if you have kids, because it's part of their history and they may want those things someday.

That said - I didn't keep certain items directly connected to the wedding - the dress, my jewelry all got sold, the cheap champagne glasses and cake cutting set were given away, and other items my kids were given to play with or were thrown away. The rest (the guest books, special memory books, photos, wedding album, rings) were put away for my kids.

I still might sell the rings.

If I didn't have kids? I'd have burned everything except the photos, and then I'd have cut him out of them.

They represent an important event, and I can't imagine getting rid of them. We were married for 25 years.

My ex was not the love letter sort, but somewhere in one of the boxes I've yet to unpack, are the few letters he did write me at the beginning when he was away for some reason or another. Again, they still matter to me.

My advice would be to pack those things away -- except possibly for the bouquet as I can't imagine it is in any reasonable condition if it's been more than a few years -- and think about looking at them in the distant future. If you have children, the photos may be of interest to them, or to any grandchildren, someday.
