For those of us who have undergone some kind of spiritual awakening or existential crisis, Christmas time can be particularly painful. And thats what I plan to cover in this article.

(60,355 posts)I'm reading a Chet & Bernie cozy mystery. This series is written from the point of view of Chet, the dog. Lol
Waiting for grandson to get up around 10am so we can ho to the Asian buffet for an early lunch before the covididiots swamp the place.
Making spaghetti later.
What are you up to today?

(861 posts)Im cooking a roast and have a good red wine to go with it. AND I am enjoying being at home in solitude without the stress of driving somewhere and sitting and listening to chatter. Ive finally realized I was more alone there than today just here at home in peace.

(14,651 posts)But we slide things around, given all the holidays and birthdays this general time of year.
Time is but the stream I go a-fishing in. I drink at it; but while I drink I see the sandy bottom and detect how shallow it is. Its thin current slides away, but eternity remains.
― Henry David Thoreau, Walden
My Mom introduced me to Thoreau at an early age, a radical thing to do.
And she and Dad both passed in 1999. She did around this time of year, so I welcomed the Millennium on the flight back,
Only the pleasant memories of them remain.
In the past, our paternal side of the family celebrated the Feast of Seven Fishes on the vigil of Christmas.
This year, I made cioppino for myself.
For the vigil.
