I'm loving the snow. We don't get alot of it around these parts.
It is making me miss having my kid at home.
Tried to build a snowman, but my roommate keeps knocking it over. I got her from the shelter a few months back. She's loving life right now so I'm letting her be the snowman assassin. I still miss Buddy. He was such a good boy. It's been almost a year since I lost my old friend.
My rural little community is quiet today. My grandmother and my best friend/neighbor both died last year. They were both such big personalities and made life interesting. It's just me and grandpa left to defend the fort now. I walked to his house and had coffee earlier. He's on oxygen full time. So far the electricity is on, so we're grateful for that.
The last big snow we had my kid was still at home. The electricity was out for days. It was one of the best weeks ever.
We spent the days huddled around my neighbor's wood stove. He made cornbread on it and my kid heated cans of beanie weenies. I learned the 12 bar blues on guitar cuz my friend was "tired of listening to that noise". I called him Miagi after that. RIP dear friend.
I hope you are all having a good day. Thank you for allowing me to share my nostalgia.

(11,767 posts)Grandma cussed like a sailor and enjoyed playing terrifying jokes on her grandkids. Her favorite bedtime story to tell was "bloody bones and butcher knives". I'm unsure if she made it up or not.

(39 posts)Lotsa snow here, too. And your grandma reminds me of my mother. When she was in hospice she told me that the nurses were worried because she kept calling for "Jimmy". I said, "Ma, who's Jimmy? We don't have a Jimmy." She laughed and said, "There is no Jimmy!" She was just messing with them.
Have a lovely, snowy day.
