Walk the Earth, like Caine in Kung Fu

There are days I could abandon it all. The day job, the house, the gym, just walk away from it all. I'd grab my jo stick and just walk the Earth, like Caine in Kung Fu. Walk from place to place, meet people, get into adventures. I'd go from town to town and, with silent wisdom and selfless acts, make the wrong things right and stand up for those who can't help themselves. I'd bring karma with every footstep. Maybe I'd have flashbacks where people call me 'grasshopper'. I wouldn't stay long in one place. I'd do what I do and, when Buddha tells me, move on.

Recently, I realized something. When I go to work, when I go to the gym, when I go grocery shopping and when I go home, I'm already walking the Earth. Just like Caine.

There's my little Buddhist moment. I have one once in a while.

addressed his assembly and said: "You are all eaters of brewer's dregs. If you go about on pilgrimage as you do, when can you meet today?"

He is about 60 and is retired from being a translater for the embassy in the US (he is 100% Thai).

After a few days he surprised us saying that he wanted to spend a week living like a homeless guy on the beach going from San Diego to Los Angeles.

A week later he came back and loved the experience.

For the surprise twist in the story look below.

He is a devout Muslim.

Not exactly Zen, but a great song by my favorite unknown band.

Something I always remind myself.

What do you do before enlightenment?
Chop wood, carry water.

What do you do after enlightenment?
Chop wood, carry water.

You are on your pilgrimage. I am on mine. Now as we talk, as we walk, but it is that silent wisdom and selfless acts in the here and now of my pilgrimage that I have trouble wrapping my head around.
