If your only rebuttal to Shelley Lubben is that she’s a Christian, you’ve missed the point entirely. That point being is, here’s a woman who was sex trafficked, experienced filmed prostitution/pornography who becomes a charity worker and founder of the Pink Cross - a foundation that provides emotional, financial and transitional support for victims of the sex trade/industry,- point/emphasis - she’s helping sex industry victims get out.

There’s nothing negative about her doing so. Her intent is to provide resources for these individuals and based on testimonials from survivors who received help from her organization, the results aren’t negative either. Her religious beliefs does not lessen her competence as a social service worker nor do they make her experiences in the sex industry any less legitimate or the objective of her organization any less valid.

A lot of people just mock her for being Christian. Or they mock her for having 'chosen her choice' and then doing a 180.

I don't know if they're feigning ignorance, or if they're simply so callous that they find it possible to ignore the thousands of testimonials from people in the industry who have described the sickening conditions they work under. I'm familiar with conservatives doing that with respect to people who choose to work at places like Walmart, for instance, but seeing it here, again and again... anyway.

As I've said before, women are raped on porn sets every single day. It happens all the time. Actors sign up to do only x type of scenes, and once on set they find out their choices aren't really so respected after all. It's sickening that even after so many people describe these situations, even after seeing video evidence, some are willing to keep their blinders on. And for what? That's the sickest part about it.

1. Lots of people are Christian

Or Muslim, or Buddhist-- whatever. Billions of people in fact.

I'm not any of one, but I don't discount what people say because of their religion, unless they're mixing it with politics.

Many of the organizations fighting trafficking have a Christian base. I may not believe what they believe but at least they're getting off their asses and doing something about it.

For instance, It was Protestant women in the 1800's that helped first generation immigrant Chinese women out of sexual slavery.

We have homeless shelters and soup kitchens run by religious organizations.

If atheist liberals want to spit on that they're welcome to. I'll expect their hypocritical ass's out helping those in need post-haste, in the name of progressive values.

2. They don't want to be confronted with the humanity of the subjects of their porn

It's as simple as that.
