(32,853 posts)Gloria Steinem is speaking here at Duke on April 15th and I planned to go with a friend but she delayed a day in reserving the tickets and they are all sold out. I was stunned as the venue is pretty large and I honestly did not think there would be that much interest.
I am very disappointed but I have seen her several times and it was going to be a trip down memory lane for me but I am also excited because just two years ago an acquaintance who was teaching a course in the Women's Studies department told me she was very disheartened by the students because they all refer to feminism as The Other F Word. I guess the War on Reproductive Rights has finally gotten their attention.

(120,805 posts)I was just watching part of "gloria: in her own words", last night. what a lot of memories it brought back.
it is sad that it has taken this unending, blatant war on women to finally get the attention of so many.
if you get any sort of feedback from the event, would love to hear it.
