You can determine exactly where some stand. This ought to be enlightening!

I hope those on DU who are racist, sexist and/or homophobic find a nice home over there -maybe they'll clear out of here.

Hell yeah, we can hope they will clear the hell out of here. But I doubt it. They can't help themselves. They have to control the conversation.

sympathizers. I could go to Reddit if I wanted to have conversations with those assholes.
Oh and now we have a DU banned homophobe.
Nah, Discussionist not for me.

(54,982 posts)but they have to have been working on this a while. It's another business venture. FWIW, I think it's a good idea to have a site that allows conservatives. I like the idea that people can be honest about their beliefs. I just hope more people with no association to DU join. If it remains how awful the HOFers and white privilege pushers are, it won't work.
TBF
(34,815 posts)I agree with that. It didn't appeal to me when I looked at it - but I am used to all the bells and whistles here. I like the way this site is set up to give us breaking news, latest threads, most rec'd threads etc. The other site is more streamlined and perhaps will draw in a younger crowd (not a bad thing). I hope people have fun with it.

(53,316 posts)far right posters, as happens with most open political forums.

(54,982 posts)And yes, I think the ability to be honest about what one believes is very important. What I find so irritating here is that I see some of the arguments as dishonest. I can deal with a conservative because he is clear that he dislikes feminism. It's the "I'm a liberal and feminist" people who then advance the same views the conservative that really piss me off.

(106,953 posts)I often can't move on to get anything productive done (for hours)...I'm thinking I will wait on Discussionist. I'm not sure what the value of a "no holds barred" non-moderated, open-to-all site would be (correct me if I am wrong on that last aspect). Perhaps I will peruse when it becomes active, but... (ON EDIT, I see that they are having juries, so apparently, it isn't designed to be a total free-for-all)
I have to admit I am curious what admins were thinking when they decided to create it...(though it does give them an immediate excuse/contrast when certain criticisms of DU comes up)....

(3,724 posts)Having fully monetized this site, the owners are increasing their revenue stream by founding another message board, without the so-called "Liberal" label. Conservatives and nincompoops have money too, so why not take it from them as well? It's a business decision, that's all. It's their right to do it, this IS America, but it still all boils down to money.
Having said that, you won't see me participating there. We have enough conservatives and misogynists right here, on the premier liberal message board in the country. Why would I want to go there and see the same shit (and more!) being spewed unchecked? It makes no sense. Let them wallow in the gutter.
