Last month The Guardian covered Bambi, a woman street artist they dubbed "the female Banksy." However, after looking at Bambi's portfolio, comprised mostly of renderings of celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Amy Winehouse and Cara Delevingne, we have to say, we can do better. Just because Bambi sounds (sort of) like Banksy, doesn't mean she's the automatic heir to the street art throne.
On that note, allow us to introduce 10 badass female artists we'd choose over Banksy any day.

It's nice that women are getting known out there.

(36,988 posts)In my opinion.
The use of color is vastly superior to banksy who mostly uses black and grey in his work and a splash of color now and then to accent a point.
Great work women carry on. The more the merrier as they say.

Is Banksy a single person? (my info points to no: "banksy" per se is closer to a collective, like Borf was in DC.)
But, yes, all of those artists deserve recognition. I'm a huge fan of street art too and I didn't know about Miss Van. Thanks for this!

(56,582 posts)Again, I'm hesitant to identify "Banksy" as a single person.

Now there's an interesting thought
roguevalley
(40,656 posts)them forward by pushing someone backward. Art is in the eye of the beholder. I like them all. Unless they painted on the side of my house. Maybe.

(42,484 posts)I'd like that on my house.

(9,810 posts)Looking through a window into a space kept beyond her. That she's from the past, looking into modernity's options and alterations and that she can never experience. Or possibly she's seeing what little change and mourning. Or both.
There's deep commentary on women in that one, and it's beautiful.
I also like the revolution.
