Rather than her gender, thus weakening feminism for all.

But alas, she'll be a shining example that using your gender to get ahead rather than your qualities is a "good" example of feminism.

"Half my cabinet will be female!"

Doesn't matter, can you have a cabinet that does the right thing regardless of gender? Oh wait, you're just pandering. Oh well.

Sorry.

Sure it's monumental. First American woman president.

But history is going to show that our possible first woman president lied about her opponent and accepted voter suppression to win it. She talked down to BLM and shouted down Greenpeace.

Not totally awesome. It's good because yay first woman, but at what cost?

Weakest argument they've thrown out there yet.

In another thread someone else used the same line that we shouldn't give a shit about electing the first female president here since it's been done elsewhere in the world. And then tried to make comparisons with some of the most fucked up right wing women out there, like we don't know the fucking difference. I bet they would love it if the GOP used that argument against implementing universal healthcare? Meh, who gives a fuck, they already did that elsewhere in the world, amirite?

You just dropped in to defend that poster who compared Hillary to some right wing assholes? The OP was celebrating an historic achievement for women in making it as far as she has. It's not celebrating men because they have always been in control. How does supporting Hillary or Bernie change that? And why do you think it's ok that he dropped in here and dropped that turd in the middle of this group?

Please explain why you think that was ok. You could have just ignored this thread if you don't believe feminists should be celebrating progress. I get that you don't like Hillary. I know you are a feminist. I don't know why you chose to defend that guy or make negative comments about celebrating an historic moment.

I just thought that it would be nice if people could respect that it's a feminist group and that we are celebrating a special moment in women's history. It shouldn't matter who anyone supports. It's still historical for women. And this group is History of Feminism. It makes sense that we would discuss this.

And I know you know that this group has never really tolerated people like that guy jumping in and making his nasty comments.

I'm sorry if I came off harsh. I know you helped make this group. I was just taken aback by some posts in this thread.

Sorry, Boston, that there are those on this Democratic site who simply cannot resist dumping on a positive thread in what is supposed to be a safe haven for feminists. Their lack of self restraint in their single minded effort to demonize Hillary says everything we need to know about them.

I'm not going to get into the "official" versus "pretty damn likely" or "mathematically certain" debate. Fact is, we all know what the results of this primary contest are quite likely to be, and no question it is historic. Bigtime.

In the hustle and bustle of a contested and sometimes difficult primary season on DU, that salient fact should not be ignored or papered over.

You all deserve to celebrate it. We all should. It is overdue.

Good Lord, if she doesn't, what does that say about the intelligence of the American voting public? I mean, all you have to do is read the transcripts of some conversations with Trump to realize that the man doesn't have any two brain cells rubbing together. He has never once, to my knowledge, completed a thought or finished a sentence. It's like there's a blizzard going on inside his skull.

And I'm not even talking about his racist and sexist dog whistles and nonsensical policy positions; those speak for themselves. I'm talking about basic intelligence, of which he appears to have very little. GWB, bless him, wasn't the brightest bulb in the chandelier, but at least he had a belief system that he was sincere about. Trump is all about the size of his dick and how many buildings he can get his name on.

Ms. Clinton is going to mop the floor with him if he dares to face her in a debate.

Oh, and to the posters here claiming that Hillary is not a liberal – please; half the people in the country think she's a communist for chrissakes. Just because she won't make empty promises about free everything doesn't make her a right winger. Jeezus.
