(19,322 posts)Im sorry but we need more than 18 blue states we currently have. With illinois and new jersey the new battleground states for 2028, we need to get back red states like Michigan, Nevada and Georgia.

(1,561 posts)maybe for safety, health, sanity, or whatever. I dont advocate moving to a blue state to create a further red/blue rift but I am not going to judge their reasons. If people feel they need to move but you think that is wrong feel free to tell them they shouldnt move.
People have been talking about moving, including out of the country and might think it will solve their problems but they often dont realize theyve exchanged one problem for another and the benefit they thought they would get is cancelled by another issue.
This is just information. They can look into it or not.

(19,322 posts)I mean just buying a home would be prohibitive. My house in Florida could get me 375K or so with property taxes at 2700. In a blue state, I couldnt get a 2100 square foot house for near that.
If blue states could find a way to make living affordable, youd have a lot of people moving in that want to.

(1,561 posts)to a blue state would come from swing states.
More likely they would want to come from deep red states which wouldnt matter 1 iota for elections but would likely be a massive cost of living shock unless they were willing to live well outside the major urban and suburban areas.
However this wasnt meant to be a political or election thread but it seems its turning into one anyway.

(6,486 posts)The system doesnt give a shit how high the vote totals are in NY or California; swing states can certainly be won by just a handful of votes.
Our democracy isnt pure in its form.

(19,322 posts)Thats when they were discussing close states that almost went trump which was New Jersey and illinois. Although at the time illinois was 5 points in our favor but now its 9 so who knows.

(1,437 posts)but we're in one of the rare blue areas of Ohio and after this most recent election there's absolutely no possibility of the MAGATS ever relinquishing control. We were hoping that the anti-gerrymandering ballot issue would have passed but, due to our corrupt Secretary of State and Supreme Court, it did not. They had already been governing with an iron fist and this has only made their rule permanent (unless there's a revolution). We're definitely looking to relocate to a blue state as is our son and his family. However, that maybe difficult if and when the incoming criminal cabal crash segments of the economy (of course, their interests will be secure and prosper).

(866 posts)For example, in Maryland if you died there and tried to give a niece something, it is generally taxed at 10%.
