I have it on good authority that the VAWA is nothing but gun control.
Under Cover of Darkness U.S. Senate Passes New Gun Control Lawshttps://www.ammoland.com/2022/03/under-cover-of-darkness-senate-passes-new-gun-control-laws/#axzz7NhkkXQyeOMG!! We are going to take all the guns away!!1!1 Well, us and the 'turncoat Republicans'.
The gunners are up in arms over the VAWA. Even though the Boyfriend Loophole was restored allowing an unmarried domestic partner to beat and abuse 'his woman' and still keep his guns the gun nutz are convinced that the camel's nose is under the tent. Why? First there's the provision that requires all failed background checks to be reported to local authorities for investigation. OH NOES! That will make someone who broke the law into a criminal. Or something like that. Next the law provides for research grants to study gun violence so we (and the turncoats) can find an excuse to TAKE THE GUNS AWAY! And then, AND THEN there's a provision that will allow the ATF to work directly with local law enforcement thus TURNING ALL LOCAL COPS INTO GUN GRABBING GESTAPO.
This is the level of paranoia and propaganda being stirred by the gun culture to benefit the Gun Vultures.
How is there supposed to be a 'compromise' with the likes of this???

(9,744 posts)6. I see my "moderate and independent" Congressman
Brian Fitzpatrick was not one of the turncoat Republicans who voted yes. Gotta keep that gun nut cred while being reasonable.
All the wife beaters are going to go insane as well as all the gun nuts that have their own private arsenals including rocket launchers and other necessary items to protect oneself. The right wing websites will be out of control today. Good for them, it builds character.

Check out the nutballs at Freerepublic over this...😁 They are convinced its satan or some such nonsense is behind this. Between this and the anti-Vaxers over there they are are sure the end is near😎. And these people vote....scary.

don't they get?

(65,300 posts)11. IIRC, they like their own definition of "well regulated" which does not include having the government do the regulating.
IIRC, their iidea of "well regulated' means something like well managed.
