New gun bill raises safety concerns (N.C.)
Might as well call it the "Steal My Guns, Please" law.
(snip)
The bill, approved by legislators Tuesday night and currently awaiting Gov. Pat McCrorys signature, allows concealed permit holders to take handguns to a range of places, including bars and playgrounds, and store guns in locked cars on school or university property.
Supporters said the bill will make neighborhoods safer, since concealed permit holders have been vetted thoroughly.
But opponents said allowing guns where alcohol is served or where children play will only lead to more problems.
How does it make schools safer if guns are stored in locked cars? asked Jonathan Sink, legislative liaison for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police responded to more than 7,100 thefts from vehicles last year, according to an Observer analysis of city data.
They also responded to more than 1,300 calls from Charlotte bars and taverns.

designed solely for the purpose of killing and maiming living things make ANYPLACE safer? Safer for people like Trayvon Martin? Safer for the child who finds an unattended gun and thinks it's a toy? Safer for the victim of a crime perpetrated by a criminal with a gun stolen from a parked car?
The NRA (and its supporters) is a terrorist organization, and should be designated as such.
