(3,817 posts)If it was something like, Outstanding! I could not agree more. I have fought the same fight with nearly exact numbers and my doc was very impressed. Did mine with mostly diet and exercise some metformin and there were bump in the road, many bumps but got it done. Regardless, Well done Steve.

(103,797 posts)I started to get hives when I started on Jardiance. I stopped taking it and the hives are going away. They are considering what drug to replace the Jardiance. I do yard work is about my only real exercise.
A diabetic diet helps too. I try not to cheat. It has taken some getting used to.

(12,335 posts)You might try the other one, Farxiga. These drugs have the other effects of protecting kidney function and the heart, so much so that SGLT2 inhibitors are being prescribed to non-diabetics and type one if at risk of CKD and heart issues.

(4,741 posts)You must have worked hard for it, but it does help to live in a time when doctors can do so much to help you get there.
My nan would have loved to have had access to all of of the modern medications and sheer knowledge when she was suffering from diabetes.

(2,047 posts)A 5.4 !! Been trying to get "normal" since 2010 without insulin. Yes, that has felt like forever and often out of reach. Row cropping and truck gardening has me more active in the summer so I've always done better in the summer. But nothing like this result.
I did about 11 years of ever-increasing doses of metformin, then added glipizide with increasing doses of that. A couple of years ago I got an empagliflozin (jardiance) Rx and added that to my morning doses.
As the ads said, I lost a bit of weight. I also established a routine with pretty frequent trips to the backside of bushes and tall weeds in the fence rows. An effect that really wasn't covered in the ads.
This summer I was determined to back my weight down which has happened modestly. Chemistry and discipline. Who'd have thought that could work (other than maybe the doc and his nurses)?
