My Doctor thinks COVID-19 gave me Diabetes Type 1

I was a type two and I had been on pills for years. Then a few months after I had COVID my blood sugar went way high. I finally went to a specialists and after testing she thinks COVID gave me type 1 Diabetes. Oh well I'll just have to live with it now.

Many years ago when my husband was diagnosed with Type 1 his specialist had done some research and believed that a virus can be the cause of development of Type 1. My husband had just had the measles and the doctor firmly believed that was the cause. This would have been over 60 years ago.

Diabetes Type 1 is an entirely separate disease from Type 2 and is usually the result of some viral illness destroying pancreatic function. It can be as simple as a cold or as vicious as the measles or Covid.

Likely made a friends kidney disease worse, and gave him a blood clot in his leg.
