No. 8 Maryland Women Best William and Mary in Front of Nearly 18,000
COLLEGE PARK, Md. The William & Mary women's basketball team hung tough for 25 minutes against Maryland on Thursday before the No. 8 Terps showed why they're national title contenders, pulling away for a 107-57 win in front of a sellout crowd at XFINITY Center.
Bella Nascimento, who's 16 points led the way for the Tribe, converted a 3-point play at the 6:46 mark of the third quarter to make it an 11-point game. From there Maryland would outscore W&M 54-15 to earn the win.
The called sellout of 17,950 makes it the largest crowd for any W&M women's basketball game. Over 15,000 of those in attendance were children from 80 local schools in the College Park area as apart of Maryland's "Field Trip Day".
Kayla Rolph, who was coming off a career-high 21 in the Tribe's win over SC State, put the visitors on the board via a corner 3-pointer 90 seconds in to make it 3-2 W&M.
