(12,011 posts)To raise money for the charities. I think it's a great idea, and in fact, I seem to recall some Biden supporters on here not long ago saying that if Bernie cared about the country, he'd stop raising money for his campaign and direct it to raise money for low income people hit hardest by the coronavirus. Now he's doing that and you're criticizing him? Seriously?

(49,756 posts)ego driven at first, but perhaps he's trying to exit gracefully, while gently letting his supporters know that it is over. I think Bernie realizes how extreme some of them are.

(49,756 posts)At least for all the decent Bernie supporters I know. This primary has been emotionally exhausting. For all the times I've been on the losing side, I'm trying to be a gracious winner!

(12,011 posts)And he lends credibility and exposure to these charities. Whenever there's a natural disaster or other event that sparks lots of charitable contributions, there are always charity scams and appeals from charities that do good work but don't share our ideology. Bernie picking these charities serves as a form of vetting for those who can only afford to give small amounts.

(5,969 posts)On the other hand, there are institutes where a major part of the donations get redirected into the pockets of family members. I'd agree that there is no need for these kind of questionable organizations because for some it may look like a scam.
