These Washingtonians have donated the most to Gov. Inslee's presidential run

Washington Gov. Jay Inslee is not among the best known of the 23 Democrats who are running for president — he's polling in the back half in the field — but he has gotten enough financial backing to stay formidable, a Business Journal analysis of campaign finance records found.

Inslee, whose campaign platform has centered on environmental issues, has raised $2.3 million this year, with more than $1 million of that coming from donors in the Evergreen State. Many of those are attorneys, executives and tech workers within the Puget Sound region.

His top donors include key figures in some of the state's biggest companies and nonprofits, including Connie Ballmer of the Ballmer Group, Zumiez Chairman Thomas Campion, Microsoft executive Brad Smith, NanoString Technologies Senior Vice President of Operations Mary Tedd Allen and Amazon Chief Financial Officer Brian Oslavsky, who each donated the maximum $5,600 to Inslee.

The governor also received support from Native American groups, such as the Lummi Nation, Muckleshoot Indian Tribe, Spokane Tribe of Indians, Swinomish Tribe and the Tulalip Tribes contributed $5,600 each. The Suquamish Indian Tribe has given the campaign $3,000.
