That is all you need to know.
Analysing motives in such an instance is just a red herring to be seen to be doing something when that 'something' shouldn't be armchair psychoanalysis but affirmative action on gun control and mental health.

Sometimes people do things for no reason at all. And considering the age of the shooter, oh well.

(24,309 posts)My heart is with that little one. It IS traumatizing. Saying it is anything else is ridiculous.
My kiddo is 19 and out of public schools now. I no longer memorize what hes wearing when he walks out the door, just in case. I miss the community of parents and friends within the public school system but I dont miss the daily worry that he will be murdered in his classroom. I dont think the kiddo misses it either.

(229,752 posts)And even if the kids are involved enough in what they're doing, then comes the shooting drills as a reminder. My cousin said her daughter is still traumatized. My friend moved up here from downstate so her daughter could go to a smaller school, and though this is a small city, you never know. Fortunately, she's now graduated and has no wish to go back to school - even though her mother (my friend) went back and got her Masters. I'm glad that your son is out as well. Something obviously needs to be done, like renewal of the Assault Weapons Ban, but the way things are going now, I'm sure not optimistic.
