Cognitive tests. Have you seen the Jimmy Kimmel bits where he asks people on the street basic questions, like "find the US on a map" and no one can do it? And these contestants almost universally identify as Republicans or Trump voters.

Most liberals would wipe the floor with these idiots in cognitive testing.

I'd like to go toe to toe with a con on 9th grade US history.

At a July 4th cook-out with my in-law family and their friends in WNY, and an informal trivia game started, with small prizes like paperbacks and beer gear at stake. After getting the first 3 questions right (the Grisham paperback was one of the things I won), I felt self-conscious and stopped putting up my hand. The hostess, and the one running the game, said "I hope you've noticed that the only one who's answered any of the questions is a Canadian."

For one thing, I got a VERY good grounding in early basic education such as history and geography in my young life, and, of course, I belong to DU. One of the many reasons I love this place.

That one of the questions that I was the ONLY one out of about 20 adults who seemed to know the answer was "Name the 3 branches of US Federal Government" is kind of pitiful. Did they stop teaching Civics some decades ago?

There is no such course in Canadian schools, as far as I know.
