Rep. Jamie Raskin: We're still in the fight of our lives' against 'authoritarian lies' - Velshi - MSNBC

The fourth anniversary of the January 6th attack at the Capitol will also be the first time that Congress will convene to certify the results of a presidential election since those attacks thwarted the peaceful transition of power in 2021. “We’re still in the fight of our lives, it’s not over by a long shot,” Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) tells Ali Velshi. “The struggle between authoritarian lies and democracy and the struggle for the common good continues.”

He adds that Trump’s promise to pardon people who have been convicted of January 6-related crimes is an “attack on constitutional democracy.” He notes, “They certainly have also not shown that these people are rehabilitated and reformed and no longer constitute a threat to public safety.” - Aired on 01/05/2025.
