If you are unable to independently confirm things with journalistic sourcing, then anything you take a face value is going to be used against you to either scare you, control you or both. Incredulity is the new erudition.

The journalistic integrity I seek is finding multiple sources of reputable information (BBC, NPR, some online sources - but without doubt not all or even many!)...

I sadly concur that humanity is in the midst of its own self-caused extinction event. We are too stupid, too easily duped and led astray on the whole to free ourselves from the greed and insanity of others who seek power for power's sake or influence to safe-guard personal wealth. We are a failed evolutionary dead end.
