Let's talk about Trump regretting he lost Canada to China.... - Belle of the Ranch

Well, howdy there Internet people. It's Belle again. So, today we're going to talk about Trump regretting he lost Canada to China.

It seems like Trump is finally starting to understand that he took things too far and has permanently damaged the US economy and national security. He's trying to reverse course. The problem is is that he doesn't know how. When Trump launched his nonsensical tariffs and started degrading the NATO alliance, we repeatedly talked about how it would drive allied or non-aligned nations closer to China. This isn't real estate. Countries aren't necessarily tied to allying with those closest to them.

Well, as was completely predicted by every foreign policy expert in the world, that hasn't fallen for American exceptionalism and myth based nationalism, Canada started pursuing deals with other markets, including China. When it started, Trump tried to act like the dumped boyfriend who doesn't care about what his ex is doing and on January 16th, 2026, he said, "That's what he should be doing. It's a good thing for him to sign a trade deal. If you can get a deal with China, you should do that."

However, his attitude changed as his Greenland push collapsed. He was ignored and laughed at while at Davos, and then he insulted NATO troops, causing an even bigger rift. By January 24th, he was upset to see his girl with somebody else and was punching his locker while posting to social media and threatened to once again raise prices on Americans through tariffs.

He said, "If Governor Carney thinks he is going to make Canada a drop off port for China to send goods and products into the United States, he is sorely mistaken. China will eat Canada alive, completely devour it, including the destruction of their businesses, social fabric, and general way of life. If Canada makes a deal with China, it will immediately be hit with a 100% tariff against all Canadian goods and products coming into the USA. Thank you for your attention to this matter, President DJT.”

Reminder, the deal was already made before Trump posted this. I'm sure the farmers who still haven't recovered from Trump's previous trade war losses are going to love the idea of paying even more for potash, which the US primarily gets from Canada. There are now theories floating around that he's doing it on purpose so his political allies can buy up smaller producers when they go under.

Canada's deal with China is not just about trade. It's also about image. Trump is currently trying to push countries in the Americas to sever ties with China. Meanwhile, he's losing the second largest economy to them. Trump is starting to reach the point where longtime allies are simply walking away from the US. This isn't something he had to deal with during his first term because most US allies viewed his election as a fluke and something they would just have to weather for the four years of his term.

Now that he's in office again, they no longer have faith that the American people will steer away from his protectionist nonsense in the future. They can't base their economies on a country that has that much uncertainty in future economic policy. Markets hate uncertainty. Trump has already set in motion a decline of US power that will take decades to repair.

Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.
