1. Not sure how there's a trap here

First - I’m not sure that Trump feels a need to have special prosecutors - who mostly serve to avoid the appearance of conflict. He can just have his AG pick his most partisan USA to head the prosecution.

Second - he can just ignore the ruling if he doesn’t like it. It only applies in a small part of FL now and other courts have ruled in the other direction. So it looks hypocritical you say? When has that stopped him I reply.

Third - Cannon’s ruling doesn’t say he can’t have special counsels… just that DOJ can’t appoint them. POTUS can appoint and the senate confirm whoever they want. That will destroy any notion of independence you say? See 1&2 above.

The 11th can just say that the issue is moot (given that he’s POTUS and POTUS can do whatever he likes with classified information)
