(148,008 posts)I remember getting my polio shot while I was in grammar school.
Problem is, I'm old and most people are not. They don't remember, because they got the polio vaccine as babies and don't even remember getting it. Nobody gets polio any more. And now, nobody remembers what that was like.
My brother-in-law had polio as a child. Got it before the shot was available. He's the same age I am. He remembers. He came through it OK, but not everyone did.
Now we have this moron who is a relative of JFK. He doesn't remember. He has no freaking idea what that was like for parents of young children in the 1940s and 50s. Then, we had the vaccine, and within a few years, polio was a forgotten thing.
Amazing. The thing is that most of our Senators are too young to remember, too. They got the vaccine, but don't remember that, either. They've never known anyone who had polio. It doesn't exist in their minds. They'll probably ignore this. They're idiots, if they do, but they probably will.
