It is all about diverting from the more insidious stuff. Appointees and Project 2025 stuff.

But don't dismiss this Panama and Greenland talk. Trump uses these things for shakedowns. You can expect that resource companies will be raiding Greenland as the price of getting Trump to leave them alone And those companies will give hundreds of millions to Trump in kickbacks.
