Alito can't save Trump from sentencing. He just made the Supreme Court's credibility issue worse

1. Alito and Thomas are both disgraceful.

There's nothing the Court can do to rehabilitate its image as long as those two miscreants are part of it. And Roberts is hardly any better because he seems to be making no effort at all to do anything about them. Granted, he's not actually their boss, but you'd think he'd at least stop making stupid excuses. I'm not fond of the rest of the conservatives, either, but they are just conventionally awful rather than flagrantly and defiantly corrupt like Alito and Thomas. Those two are the turds floating in SCOTUS' punchbowl and until they're gone and there's a new batch of punch in a clean bowl, nobody's* going to want to drink anything they serve up.

*Except for Trump, et al., of course.
