34. Yep, the ruling class took over completely from that point.

Doesn’t really matter who was in power, we just continued to keep creeping further and further to the right economically and in foreign policy. Policies that destroyed the industrial base and middle class just kept coming and the imperialism never stopped without the People benefitting a single bit from any of it. Union market share has declined continuously, bank deregulation and tax cuts turned us from a bottom up economy to this trickle down horseshit economy we still maintain to this day.

And it only gets worse from here. Americans have been conditioned so well to accept these things that are horrible for them as the “natural order of humanity” that there doesn’t seem to be any way to reverse them by conventional means.

We’re well and truly fucked. And we’ve done it to ourselves.
