22. About Irish women...

My sibllings and I were raised Irish Catholic.

Our mother ruled the roost. My dad converted
when I was about 3, but he was WASP by nature.

As long as my mother was alive, she kept him
halfway sane politically; but after he died, he
remarried a southern bigot and she turned him
to the dark side -- Fox and everything.

Anyway, Irish women are deliberately raised to be
strong, independent, and successful; and thats
because of the British oppression in Ireland, which
made it unsafe to be male -- so the mothers coddled
the boys and kept them close -- ring any bells, because
that's how it was with my mother and grandmother,
and with my sister-in-law who was also raised Irish'
Catholic. My nephew and his wife even life on the same
property as she does, and he's a real mama's boy.

We girls are independent and successful, and my brothers
not so much. Let me just say, that it's a good thing they
have us girls to help them out since our parents are gone.

Funny thing though. I like it this way.
