First, since "Citizens United" it's basically "one dollar one vote" with people being the effect, not the cause.

Second, the party has no "permanent" policy making and messaging board or presence, like the GOP does.

I might have to write someone about this! Sounds like:
Biden,
Clinton,
Clinton,
Obama,

By standing "above" primaries (if that's possible, given differing views on policy) then they can be a constant presence and reminder of foundational principles. Yes, I know about liberal think tanks, but the point is that the public doesn't.

The first obstacle is Citizens United.
The second is the horrible abuse of Section 230 to allow hate and lies to spread unchecked.
