country to Christian nationalism, is a bigger endorsement and affirmation of Carter's sincerity of faith than just about anything else.

They disliked his position on segregation and discrimination, and they didn't like his respect for the establishment clause, which they want to ignore. But above all that, I think they just couldn't stand the fact that he was given credit for sincerity of faith that they couldn't fake, and couldn't get credit for.
