3. No family this year...

Again and thankfully so. I will spend much of the early part of the day making a modest turkey dinner with my one friend at his house. We'll play cards and dice and he'll watch football the whole time, at least he can double with kitchen duty since he can see/hear to teevee from the kitchen.

At some point, probably Friday, we'll split up the leftovers. He doesn't want anything to do with politics, can't wrap his head around it so, At least, he doesn't vote. I don't give him credit for voting for his interests anyway, doesn't pay attention enough nor can he grasp important political realities. But he's a good pal, we hike and do things together and help each other with some tasks, it's okay that he isn't into politics, gives me a break from it when we do stuff together. It's kind of wearing thin but I'm getting ready to relocate next year so it's not going to be a lasting friendship once I leave. Some friendships aren't lifelong.

But we'll have a good day cooking and getting high for a few hours, that will be enough.

My Thanksgiving tradition is to write letters to my dear friends and let them know how thankful I am for their friendship and our history together as friends. Seems like that's a more useful and meaningful way to celebrate thankfulness.
